THE Customs authorities in Beijing and Tianjin have recently started cooperation on a trans-regional customs clearance programme, aimed at improving efficiency between the two cities and reducing logistics costs for import and export companies, Xinhua reported.
The new customs clearance programme is designed to simplify procedures for trans-regional customs clearances and will use automated computer system to do the checking.
Under the programme, well-established companies will be allowed to apply for customs clearance for their shipments in Beijing and have their cargo released at Tianjin Port. Likewise, companies applying for to their air cargo in Tianjin will be able to release their freight at Beijing Capital Airport.
